PAGANI vs LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO : Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

...And the "making Of":

Wanna buy a car from Ahmadinejad?

looking for a used car, preferably an antique? If so, look no further – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has an offer you cannot refuse – a white, 1973 Peugeot 504 in mint condition.

The family car, which was the president's source of pride for many years, will be put on the market, and the proceeds will be donated to poor families in need of housing assistance. Iranian Welfare Minister Sadik Mahsoul on Sunday said the ancient vehicle will be up for auction internationally, adding that the details of the opening bid will soon be revealed.
Azam Farahi, Ahamadinejad's wife, will be the one bidding farewell to the car, as it is legally registered under her name. Ahmadinejad's Peugeot 504 is well known to many Iranians. During the 2005 election campaign, the then candidate used his antique car to draw support from his voters in the lower echelons of Iranian society.
In addition to his car, Ahmadinejad frequently takes pride in his modest pad in south Tehran, and of course in his faded jacket that he wears everywhere, which he claims he purchased at the local bazaar.
The money from the auction will go to the Mehr Foundation – a governmental foundation that finds housing solutions for poor families.

Gabriel Orozco + CITROEN + La D.S.

Gabriel Orozco (born April 27, 1962) is a Mexican artist, who in 1998 was called "one of the most influential artists of this decade, and probably the next one too."[1] He was born in Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico and educated in the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas between 1981 and 1984.

La D.S. is one of Orozco's largest works; a silver Citroën DS was sliced into three pieces lengthwise. The middle section was removed and the two remaining pieces were fastened together, forming an arrow-like car[2] with a width 63.5 cm (25 inches) less than the original. Visitors may sit in the new vehicle and the doors and trunk can be opened though it was not made to drive.

SMOKEY and the BANDIT

"Smokey and the Bandit"
1977
Hal Needham

When I was a child "Smokey and the Bandit" was one of my fauvourite films and i can remember when my friends and I joined to wacht this old VHS tape.
All the cast in this movie is perfect; Burt Reynolds as "Bandit", Sally Field as "Carry", Jerry Reed as "Snowman" and Jackie Gleason as "Sheriff Buford".
Of course, ...all of us were in love with the Pontiac Firebird Trans AM !!!

Hal Needham, director and stuntman, show his work in this video:

Jerry Reed, the truck driver in the film, sing the main theme of the soundtrack ;
"East bound and down"

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run.

Keep your foot hard on the pedal. Son, never mind them brakes.
Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make.
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarcana.
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes.

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run.

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run.

Ol' Smokey's got them ears on and he's hot on your trail.
He aint gonna rest 'til you're in jail.
So you got to dodge 'im and you got to duck 'im,
you got to keep that diesel truckin'.
Just put that hammer down and give it hell.

"GO FASTER" + Sven Voelker

Stripes, numbers, colors, and logos – the graphic visual look of a racecar has to stand out from all the others as they go zooming by. Most people don’t know that racing cars from the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, and Lotus were given their looks not by marketing strategists or designers, but by pure chance. Go Faster is a collection of over one hundred examples of racecar design that documents the carefree anarchy in which they were created.

In the book, colorful racing cars are featured next to blank, white models. Thanks to this juxtaposition, Go Faster not only takes its readers on a breakneck ride through images of racing history, but also shows them exactly how the graphics modulate the look of the vehicle. The neutral models in the book also give readers ample opportunity to imagine their own possibilities for graphic design in motor sports.

The time and effort invested in the look of racecars is strangely out of balance compared to that used to shape the bodywork or engineer the technology present in the car. But perhaps it is precisely this amateur quality, this anarchy and randomness that results in the irresistible attraction that racing cars and their graphics have on us. There are, of course, countless books on racing cars, but Go Faster is the first to focus on the graphic design of these machines. This makes the book an ideal gift for anyone interested in racing and high speeds.

Sven Voelker is a car enthusiast and graphic designer in Berlin. He is responsible for the global corporate design of the Suzuki Motor Corporation and other clients.
